Fidelity Active Trader Pro

Fidelity provides clients with Active Trader Pro, a stock analysis tool that assists with screening, analyzing and selecting a security in a given market which will impress us with the strategy evaluator and its stock screening tools. The Fidelity’s Active Trader Pro possesses four easy to navigate tabs are at the top of the platform. They consist of “Research,” “Trading Tools,” “Advanced Trading,” and “Monitoring.” The interface is user friendly and intuitive. Each day a list of the “Top Most Active Stocks”, as well as, the “Percent Gainers,” and “Percent Losers” are listed and all market data is streamed in real time.

Fidelity Active Trader Pro was specially designed to provide the power, price, and service you need to help you trade the way you want. This Windows-based trading platform provides one powerful feature after another like faster trading capability, up-to-the-minute market information, fully customizable layouts, and many more. Eligible customers will get streaming market data, including Level II Quotes, Time & Sales, Watch Lists, and so on. There are comprehensive, interactive advanced charting with streaming capability, interactive tools, and a resizable window. Also chart the performance of stocks, mutual funds, and indexes over specified time periods, including intraday, and compare them to market and sector indexes or other securities. You can stay on top of your positions and accounts with real-time margin balances, robust cost basis tracking, and real-time profit and loss details. In addition, with the margin calculator, you can calculate the impact of hypothetical equity trades on your margin balances and buying power.

The latest version, Active Trader Pro 9.5, includes several exciting enhancements designed to provide you with a more streamlined, intuitive trading experience as well as new trading improvements. After installation, you will notice that there are two new shortcuts on your desktop. Individual will open the classic ATP experience that you are familiar with; the other gives you access to an all new, “beta” experience that represents a new direction for Active Trader Pro. This next-generation interface includes both improved trading tool navigation and expanded layout capabilities for more intuitive customization of your ATP workspace. There is also the classic experience around for a limited time to make the transition a little easier, but once you see the new enhancements, you will be eager to make the switch.

The beta experience enhancements include streamlined tool navigation to optimize the end-to-end trading experience with improved visuals and easy-to-use menus; a quick access toolbar that lets you save your favorite or most-used tools and launch them easily; and improved layout management to help customize and save your workspace set-up and automatically give you access to the tools you need.

Then, other enhancements are available in both the classic and beta versions of ATP 9.5: new directed trading routes including VWAP, expanded margin information including intra-day status of margin calls, and new roll ticket for option trades in retirement and non-retirement accounts. The trading engine offered by Fidelity Active Trader Pro is much the same as that found at its web site. Besides, trading from both the trading window and positions window is well done. There is also a good selection of order types to choose from and on the negative side, there is a restriction on limit orders under certain conditions that leaves this reviewer wary of being left unable to execute under extreme conditions. Overall, this Fidelity Active Trader Pro is decidedly average.
